I'm John Warburton with news that adoption agencies are calling on the government to increase the numbers of children coming permanently into new families, where it’s appropriate. The Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies made the recommendation after their new report showed that fresh starts for children give youngsters a better chance in life. The research also claims adoption saves local authorities money, compared to fostering and residential homes. Other recommendations include better training for social workers looking after children’s futures.
