Social care pay should match NHS says Care England

It says the lack of government action and the growing disparity between NHS and care workers has hampered care providers’ efforts to recruit and retain staff

I’m Matt Rosser with news that Care England has called for adult social care staff to be placed on an equal pay footing with the NHS following last week’s news of a pay increase for NHS workers. It says the lack of government action and the growing disparity between NHS and care workers has hampered care providers’ efforts to recruit and retain staff. The Scottish and Welsh governments have provided bonuses for social care staff in recognition of their heroic efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and Care England says the English government should follow suit. It also wants the government to accept and properly fund the recommendations of the Low Pay Commission for the 2023 rates. For more care related stories stay with us here at Care Radio.
