I'm James Macdonald with news that Scotland has become the first UK nation to stop using an anaesthetic gas in the NHS. The substance has a global warming potential that’s significantly higher than carbon dioxide. Removing the anaesthetic during surgery and in operating theatres will save emissions equivalent to powering 1,700 homes every year according to the Scottish Government.
