Private treatment up 40% on pre-Covid levels

The number self-paying increasing to around 70,000 per quarter from an average of 50,000 before Covid

I’m Nick Meir with news that private healthcare providers are reporting a 40 percent increase in people paying for procedures such as cataract surgeries and hip or knee replacements. NHS figures released last week show the number of people in England waiting for routine treatments rose to six point seven million in July. The Telegraph reports this is driving an ever-larger number of patients towards private providers, with the number self-paying increasing to around 70,000 per quarter from an average of 50,000 before Covid.
