Opposition leaders warn care sector starting to “break down”

Shadow minister for social care Liz Kendall claimed the care service is a "bedrock of national prosperity", and the crisis in staffing is taking workers out of the economy

I'm John Warburton with news that a national conference for social care has heard an opposition leader claim the sector's difficulty is causing the start of a "break down" in the economy. Speaking at the National Children and Adult Services meeting in Manchester, shadow minister for social care Liz Kendall claimed the care service is a "bedrock of national prosperity", and the crisis in staffing is taking workers out of the economy. For its part, the government says social care is a priority and it's committed to building up the workforce and protecting people from unfair costs.
