Number of care home beds are reducing

The number of beds in the sector fell by 230 over the last 12 months, and with the NHS facing a bed-blocking crisis there is pressure to discharge thousands of patients into social care

I'm Nick Meir with news that care home capacity in UK has shrunk for first time in three years. The number of beds in the sector fell by 230 over the last 12 months, and with the NHS facing a bed-blocking crisis there is pressure to discharge thousands of patients into social care. Figures compiled by CSI Market Intelligence  showed that 247 care homes closed their doors last year, while just 123 new businesses opened. It was the lowest number of new entrants to the market since 2015. For more care news stay with us here at Care Radio.
