The new chair of the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, Zoe Billingham took over in January after healthcare watchdog the Care Quality Commission put the trust into special measures
I'm John Warburton with news that there’s been a call for the opening of an accident and emergency department especially for mental health care. That’s the view of the new chair of the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, the local NHS provider of mental health services. Zoe Billingham took over in January after healthcare watchdog the Care Quality Commission put the trust into special measures, finding it inadequate four times in eight years. She’s told local journalists that a walk-in mental health facility could ease pressure on other services, including mainstream hospitals and the police. The chairman is also asking for more forms of local community care, to lower the number of referrals. For more care related stories stay with us here at Care Radio.
