NHS Scotland hires nurses from overseas

191 nurses from overseas have been recruited in an effort to face unprecedented challenges

I'm James Macdonald with news that NHS Scotland have hired 191 nurses from overseas in an effort to face unprecedented challenges. Scottish Health Secretary Humza Yousaf said agreements were in place with recruitment agencies to hire nurses from countries including India and the Philippines. More than 1,000 new support staff have also been hired to work in acute hospitals and community health teams. The Health Secretary described the pandemic as "the biggest shock our NHS has faced in its 73-year existence".
