New scheme to improve patients’ mental health care

Health Education England says specialist doctors in psychiatry are being offered chances to train as approved clinicians

I'm John Warburton with news that patients looking for mental health care should be able to get more efficient help than in the past, as a new scheme for doctor training starts up. Health Education England says specialist doctors in psychiatry are being offered chances to train as approved clinicians. The health authority says it’ll let the individuals take on more responsibility, and make higher-level decisions about patients. Training for the first 42 doctors on the pilot programme will include a fully-funded mental health law course.
