“National crisis” in care safety for patients with dementia

Reporters for The Guardian have found health watchdogs are classifying increasing numbers of care homes for dementia patients as “inadequate”

I'm John Warburton. It's being claimed England is facing a “national crisis” in the safety of care for people with dementia. Reporters for The Guardian have found health watchdogs are classifying increasing numbers of care homes for dementia patients as “inadequate”. Homes with the worst rating, as judged by the Care Quality Commission, have risen from 1 in 50 to nearly 1 in 10 in the last three years. For its part, the Department for Health and Social Care says it’s allocated additional funding to “tackle dementia waiting lists and increase the number of diagnoses”.
