Measures in Chancellor's statement affecting carers

Charity for unpaid carers criticises Chancellor's cost-of-living package

I'm John Warburton with news that there’s new criticism of the chancellor’s support package because nearly all unpaid carers won’t get a £650 payment intended for people in greatest need. The comment comes from the Carers Trust, which supports all who give care without salary, such as those who look after family members or friends. The trust’s chief exec, Kirsty McHugh says unpaid carers were already experiencing a cost-of-living crisis before the latest price increases, because they’d given up paid work to begin their caring roles.
