Limits on Personal Assistant pay undermine quality of care

A survey of almost 1,000 people supported by PAs found that over three- quarters said they had found it harder to recruit in the past two years

I’m Matt Rosser with news that limits on how much people can pay personal assistants are leading to “severe shortages” of PAs, undermining quality of care. A survey of almost 1,000 people supported by PAs found that over three- quarters said they had found it harder to recruit in the past two years. Respondents said low pay had made working as a PA “uncompetitive” compared with other types of care work. The report by the Local Government Association and Think Local Act Personal recommends that NHS funders enable people to raise Personal Assistant pay to
reflect local market conditions. For more care related stories stay with us here at Care Radio.
