There are still over seventy thousand staff absent from work, 40 percent of those with COVID related illness

I'm Matt Jones with news that hospitals and ambulance services continue to warn about the strain on their resources, even as we move out of the busy winter period. Ambulance services are still warning that it's taking sometimes over an hour to handover a patient to an A and E department, leading to queues outside hospitals. The director of policy and strategy at NHS Providers -- Miriam Deakin -- has warned that there are still over seventy thousand staff absent from work, 40 percent of those with COVID related illness. And there'll be more on this and our stories here on Care Radio.
