Health trust report shows support for unpaid carers is reducing

According to The Nuffield Trust, access to carers’ breaks fell by 42% between 2015 and last year, while local authority spending on carers’ services has dropped 11% in the last five years

I'm John Warburton with news that a major trust, set up to improve healthcare in the UK, says unpaid carers in England are continuing to see support for their work reducing. According to The Nuffield Trust, access to carers’ breaks fell by 42% between 2015 and last year, while local authority spending on carers’ services has dropped 11% in the last five years. The report’s writers say carers are finding it harder to access adequate advice and support, and satisfaction with carer support services is going down. Among other measures, the Trust is calling for better government accountability, and getting integrated care boards to develop action plans to support carers.
