Health chiefs warn government that “Hospital at home” beds can’t work until NHS pressures are fixed

I'm John Warburton with news that a warning’s going to the government that its plans to create so-called “hospital at home” beds can’t work until action’s taken to relieve severe pressures on the NHS. It comes as the Department of Health announces plans for many elderly and vulnerable people to get tailored support at home, to help move some care out of hospitals. But Saffron Cordery, interim chief executive at NHS Providers, cautions that more must happen to tackle vast workforce shortages, staff exhaustion and burnout. And the RCN warns necessary community services have lately been “decimated”.
