Family carers marginalised in the pandemic

The University of Stirling Management School research found carers felt “powerless, voiceless and choice-less” during the first six months of the pandemic

I’m Sarah Hutton with news that a new study has concluded family carers in the UK were marginalised during the pandemic and vulnerable older people were let down by the health system. The University of Stirling Management School research found carers felt “powerless, voiceless and choice-less” during the first six months of the pandemic, with elderly relatives prematurely discharged, and health records sometimes changed without due process. The report recommends improving communication, not closing complaints procedures, and reducing the stress of frontline employees through reduced workloads.
