End of Covid payments on Isle of Man

From Friday, anyone who is unable to work will only be able to claim the basic sum

I’m James Macdonald with news that Covid payments on the Isle of Man are due to be scrapped on April the 1st. The self-isolation payment of £300 was introduced in January for anyone with a legal direction to self-isolate after a positive result, this was off the back of a sharp rise in cases with the Omicron variant. From Friday, anyone who is unable to work will only be able to claim the basic sum, which is due to increase to £89.25 from 11th April. There’s currently 1,666 active cases on the island, with 10 people receiving treatment in Hospital. There’s more on this and other stories here on Care Radio.
