I'm John Warburton with news that children who care for other family members are a major focus of new calls to give more support to school pupils. The Children’s Commissioner for England recommends schools should target young carers for additional support, including making sure school records include their caring responsibilities. Rachel de Souza responded after a survey listened to just over half-a-million children. She also wants a flexible approach to attendance policies, when pupils of any age, from primary school upwards, are looking after other people at home.
