I'm Alistair Clarke with news that shock new findings show how far some children have to travel from London to be placed in foster care. Lambeth Council in south London sent one youngster 300 miles to Cumbria, Southwark Council sent some young people to Newcastle and York while Lewisham Council had to arrange care in Leeds, Wigan and St Helens in the last few months. A council spokesperson said the vast majority of children needing care were accommodated locally and long distances were often due to specific reasons.
