Call for national minimum wage for social care to avoid staff leaving

The NHS Confederation is telling the Prime Minister that the lowest social care wages need to rise to at least £10.50 per hour, or staff will continue to leave the profession

I'm John Warburton with news that NHS leaders are asking the government to put up minimum pay for social care workers in England. The NHS Confederation is telling the Prime Minister that the lowest social care wages need to rise to at least £10.50 per hour, or staff will continue to leave the profession, tempted by greater pay offered to healthcare workers. Leaders warn hospitals might keep patients in for longer, because there won’t be social care for them when they leave.
