Basic benefits £140 lower than real cost of living

I'm Matt Jones with news that the UK's leading poverty charities have called for a change in the law to fix what they call the UK's failing welfare system. It follows research revealed in The Observer newspaper that shows basic benefits given to low-income households are at least one hundred and forty pounds less than the real cost of living.The Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Trussell Trust have said that inadequate benefits were the main cause of the increase in use of food bank use in recent months. For more care stories, stay with us here on Care Radio.
