I'm John Warburton with news that a group helping unpaid carers in Wales is calling for their support to become an election issue next month. The charity “Carers Wales”, part of Carers UK, says council candidates standing in May should be challenged about unpaid carers being put at what it calls “the back of the queue” for local services after the pandemic Bosses claim Welsh unpaid carers saved social and other services £33m a day at the height of lockdowns. But workers are finding that, among other things, day centres and respite care services are re-opening too slowly.
