The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust says the two decades of work began with four people, but now 18 are supporting those who provide unpaid care for people with mental health conditions
I'm John Warburton with news that an NHS trust in Somerset is this week marking 20 years of helping unpaid mental health carers. The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust says the two decades of work began with four people, but now 18 are supporting those who provide unpaid care for people with mental health conditions. According to the trust, specialists on the team can develop tailored plans to assess carers’ wellbeing of carers, then find how best to support them. Around 16,000 carers have been helped across the last ten years alone. Support includes carers’ breaks, and advice on lifestyle choices. People needing help can refer themselves to the trust, provided the person they care for is known to the Somerset mental health services. For more care news stay with us here at Care Radio.
