These rules, together with Employment and Support allowance changed on March 24th
I’m Matt Rosser keeping you up to date with news that sick pay measures returned to normal on March 24 as part of the UK’s ‘Living With Covid’ changes. Under rules that were brought in during the pandemic someone with Covid was able to get Statutory Sick Pay from day one but they’ll now need to wait until day four of being sick or self-isolating to claim. SSP is the minimum entitlement - employers can pay more than this. The temporary rule change also applied to Employment and Support Allowance for people whose illness or disability is affecting their ability to work. This has also returned to normal and can be claimed from the eighth day of sickness. We’ll keep you up to date on this and other developments, here on Care Radio.
