Shortage of home grown Doctors in the NHS

The British Medical Association has warned the NHS that it faces a “workforce emergency” as UK-trained doctors and nurses retire early or switch careers

I'm James MacDonald with news that data has revealed  the proportion of homegrown doctors and nurses is on the decline. Numbers compiled by the BBC show that recruitment to NHS trusts across the UK has reached a seven-year low. The British Medical Association has warned the NHS that it faces a “workforce emergency” as UK-trained doctors and nurses retire early or switch careers. Burnout from Covid is thought to be the main contributor. Dr Kitty Mohan from the BMA says "as well as trying to recruit and retain doctors here in the UK, it is crucial that we ensure that international staff feel welcomed and valued and have the appropriate support to work here in the NHS where they are so badly needed”.
