Reflections as Kinship Care Week ends

A charity supporting people caring for relatives says this has been a ‘momentous year’ for the people it supports

I'm John Warburton with news that as Kinship Care Week comes to its end today, a charity supporting people caring for relatives says this has been a ‘momentous year’ for the people it supports. The charity, itself called ‘Kinship’, is telling the public there’s been what it called ‘unprecedented’ attention from decision-makers, after a major independent review recommended further investment in kinship care. But charity leaders warned many such carers still feel unrecognised, undervalued and unsupported, meaning more’s to be done to raise awareness of family carers. Separately, Children’s Commissioner for England Dame Rachel de Souza said she’d be reporting to MPs the importance of supporting children who care for close relatives.
