Samantha Rickwood, a mental health nurse in London, is warning others after falling victim to the scam which sees fake contact tracing messages sent to people instructing them to purchase a PCR test
I’m Matt Rosser with news that a nurse has lost £2,000 after becoming the target of a convincing NHS Covid text scam. Samantha Rickwood, a mental health nurse in London, is warning others after falling victim to the scam which sees fake contact tracing messages sent to people instructing them to purchase a PCR test. After clicking on the link Samantha received a call from a man who claimed to be from her bank. The scammer asked for her card details to transfer money across to a "safe account", before stealing over £2,000 - all her wages which had just been paid. Her bank was able to get her money back and both the bank and the NHS say they would never ask for card details over the phone. We’ll keep you up to date, here on Care Radio.
