I'm James MacDonald with news that more than 1.6 million adults over 50 are unable to work because of long-term sickness. This number has increased by 20% since the pandemic according to the office of national statistics. Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, promised a “fundamental programme of reforms” to get millions of people back to work in a keynote speech last week. He said this will be the key to fixing the UK’s productivity puzzle.
