I’m Matt Rosser keeping you up to date with news that data from NHS England show that staff absences related to COVID-19 are increasingly affecting the NHS workforce. Over 17 thousand staff were off work due to COVID-19 on 13 March that’s a third of all absences. NHS Confederation policy director Dr Layla McCay says the numbers are concerning, with any rise compounding the existing pressures on the NHS, which has around 110,000 unfilled job vacancies.
