NHS chiefs apologise to patients in GP surgery takeover dispute

An argument developed after Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board moved a contract for Withnell Health Centre near Chorley

I'm John Warburton with news that NHS bosses have said sorry to thousands of GP patients in Lancashire, after an argument about their surgery’s takeover by a large corporate provider. Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board moved the contract for Withnell Health Centre near Chorley to SSP Health, which runs 40 practices. A large campaign grew up over what many locals call a lack of consultation. Now, the integrated care board has apologised, but campaigners are continuing to ask for more public involvement in any decision about the surgery’s future, especially among the 5,500 patients.
