The Food Scanner app is awarding a ‘Good Choice’ badge to energy drinks and ultra-processed foods linked to health concerns
I’m Matt Rosser with news that food campaigners have criticised an NHS healthy eating app for recommending biscuits and cake. The Soil Association claims The Food Scanner app which was launched as part of the NHS’s Better Health campaign and reads barcodes to see how much fat, sugar and salt the food has, is awarding a ‘Good Choice’ badge to energy drinks and ultra-processed foods linked to health concerns. The Department of Health says the app helps families to see what's in their, including alternatives to biscuits, crisps and fizzy drinks. For more care news every day stay with us here at Care Radio.
