Three and a half million people in the country suffer from over 7,000 rare diseases

I'm Alistair Clarke with news that a new effort is underway to help people who have rare diseases. Three and a half million people in the country suffer from over 7,000 rare diseases – but because they are unusual, they’re not easy to spot by healthcare staff and therefore getting the right treatment can be difficult. The government’s plan involves more screening and funding to go into medical science that helps spot rare diseases.
