Majority of unpaid carers are ‘forced to use a foodbank’, major charity says

The Carers’ Trust is also reporting this week that its survey of 2,700 carers found 64% of unpaid carers had to give up work, at least to some extent, because of their caring role

I'm John Warburton with news that one in seven unpaid carers in Britain have been forced to use a foodbank, according to new research by a major charity. The Carers’ Trust is also reporting this week that its survey of 2,700 carers found 64% of unpaid carers had to give up work, at least to some extent, because of their caring role. And around 1 in 11 have either sold their home or released home equity to pay for essential items. Chief Executive of the charity, Kirsty McHugh, is calling on the Government to keep its long awaited promise to publish what she terms a “proper strategy for unpaid carers”.
