Life saving treatment for sickle cell disease

Thousands of patients with sickle cell disease are now able to get a life-saving treatment on the NHS

I'm Matt Jones with news that thousands of patients with sickle cell disease are now able to get a life-saving treatment on the NHS. Up to four thousand people could now benefit from a new drug which has just been given approval. Voxelotor is a tablet taken once a day, and could reduce the need for blood transfusions and hospital visits. Sickle cell disease causes intense pain and over the long term can lead to organ damage, strokes and sight loss.
