I’m Paul Hutton with news that NHS England’s medical director is expecting fewer hospital admissions during any new covid wave, compared to the two previous 2022 surges. The original omicron variants saw weekly admissions peaking at more than 14 thousand in January and March, but Sir Steve Powis told the Health Service Journal that a latest wave may cause more hospitalisations, but in other countries the variant had not caused similar levels and that it passes through relatively quickly.
