Helen Wildbore of the Relatives & Residents Association claims the policy has been rushed through with no consultation
I’m Matt Rosser with news that a national charity for older people needing care has described the decision to end regular asymptomatic Covid testing in care homes in England as ‘baffling’. The UK Government has made the decision to end regular testing from the 31st of August because it says case rates have fallen. Helen Wildbore of the Relatives & Residents Association claims the policy has been rushed through with no consultation. She said it was ‘baffling’ to halt this testing whilst keeping in place universal rules on wearing face masks in care settings, adding that masks continue to cause distress to people with dementia, hinder communication for older people with hearing loss and make their home feel like an institution.
