Danceathon to help music therapy in Sheffield

The aim is to build a new music studio to help patients with conditions such as depression trauma and schizophrenia

I'm John Warburton with news that NHS staff in Sheffield are preparing for a ten-hour fundraising dance marathon to help patients who’ve found that making music helps their recovery. Carers at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust say that people who come to them report that creating music is healing and therapeutic. The aim is to build a new music studio to help patients with conditions such as depression trauma and schizophrenia. According to one of the care leaders, music can help deal with emotions, and understand experiences better. The danceathon is set for December 16.
