Patients who are fit for discharge from wards are being forced to wait up to nine months before they can leave some NHS hospitals
I'm John Warburton with news that patients who are fit for discharge from wards are being forced to wait up to nine months before they can leave some NHS hospitals. That’s according to information discovered by the Health Service Journal under the Freedom of Information Act. Journalists say NHS trusts claim most of the long delays were caused by a lack of social care for patients going home. There were also lengthy waits for specialised equipment to assist patients where they were due to live. For its part, the government says it’s putting an extra £5.4bn into adult social care in the next three years. For more care related stories stay with us here at Care Radio.
