Could doctors prescribe birdsong to help mental health conditions?

Answers given by the 1,292 subjects aged between 16 and 73 showed what the researchers called a “robust” trend toward significantly better mental health when hearing or seeing birds

I'm John Warburton with news that it’s possible that doctors and other healthcare workers might prescribe listening to birdsong to improve patients’ mental wellbeing. Scientists led by a team at King’s College London tracked responses to birdsong, played through a smartphone app called “Urban Mind”. Answers given by the 1,292 subjects aged between 16 and 73 showed what the researchers called a “robust” trend toward significantly better mental health when hearing or seeing birds, compared to when that didn’t happen. Their report suggests that visits to places such as parks and canals could be encouraged as part of what they called “green prescribing efforts.” For more care news stay with us here at Care Radio.
