Patients no longer require hospital care but can’t be discharged

I’m James Macdonald with news that care home bosses in Harrogate have warned the staffing crisis will cause bed blocking problems for the NHS.
Chief Executive of Harrogate Neighbours, has said she’s never known it as bad as this”. We’re struggling to keep our home above water, with staff working extra time to cover spare shifts.” Harrogate District Hospital has confirmed it currently has around 40 patients who no longer require hospital care but can’t be discharged because they don’t have a suitable place to continue their recovery. As well as the social care staffing shortages, Covid is also playing a big part in the bed blocking problems. We’ll keep you updates on this and other stories here on Care Radio
