10% of adult patients go private

A survey found that almost two thirds went private because they faced long delays or could not access treatment on the NHS

I'm Matt Jones with news that one in ten adult patients in the UK have gone private for their treatment in the last year, often raiding their savings or getting into debt to do so. The Guardian newspaper revealed the results of a survey commissioned by the charity Engage Britain. The survey found that almost two thirds went private because they faced long delays or could not access treatment on the NHS. In England alone almost seven million people are waiting for routine hospital treatments, according to new NHS figures. For more care related stories stay with us here at Care Radio.
