On average over 13 thousand beds in England are occupied by patients that doctors say are medically fit to go home or into care
I'm Matt Jones with news that analysis by The Guardian newspaper suggests that up to one in three hospital beds are occupied by patients who are well enough to be discharged. The newspaper looked into official data and found that on average over 13 thousand beds in England are occupied by patients that doctors say are medically fit to go home or into care. Previous research by the Nuffield Trust found that most people can't be discharged because of a lack of available social care. For more news stories, stay with us here on Care Radio.
