Good news for those with type 1 diabetes

Tens of thousands of adults and children living with the disease across England could receive an artificial pancreas

I'm Matt Jones with good news for those with type 1 diabetes. Tens of thousands of adults and children living with the disease across England could receive an artificial pancreas, in a world first initiative being rolled out by the NHS. The device constantly monitors a persons blood sugar and automatically adjusts the amount of insulin given through a pump. Local NHS teams are now starting to identify people who are eligible for the device. It will mean that type 1 diabetics with the device will no longer need to inject themselves, reducing the number of diabetic comas and long-term health problems.
