Mental healthcare demand reached all-time peak at end of 2021

Services were struggling to keep up with the 4.3 million referrals for mental health concerns made in 2021

I’m John Warburton with news about what’s believed to be a startling rise in the number of patients seeking mental healthcare from the NHS. According to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, services were struggling to keep up with the 4-point-3 million referrals for mental health concerns made in 2021. Just under a quarter were for young people. But the government responded by saying it was investing more than 2-point-3 billion pounds a year into mental healthcare services. We’ll update you on this and other news, here on Care Radio.
